On February 19, 2019, at the invitation of the APEC Research Center, Rebecca Maria, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat, visited Nankai University, delivered a keynote speech, and held a seminar with experts and scholars. Lu Mei, Counselor of the Department of International Economics of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and senior official of APEC of China accompanied the visit.
In the speech, Rebecca Maria introduced APEC’s founding purpose, current members, development context, main topics, cooperation methods, organizational structure, main results, etc, with the topic What is APEC, as well as 2019 The APEC leaders’ informal meeting in Chile will focus on major topics such as “services and digital economy”, “regional connectivity”, and “women and economic growth”.
After the keynote speech, senior officials of Rebecca Maria and Rume held an APEC Post-2020 vision seminar with experts and scholars inside and outside the school, and conducted in-depth discussions on the APEC cooperation vision and development model in the post-Bogor era.
