Statement on COVID-19 by APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade

In May 5, 2020, APEC Ministers made Statement on COVID-19 Responsible for Trade. The statement stressed the importance of maintaining close cooperation at all levels and strengthening anti epidemic cooperation at the current stage, and concerned about and supporting the developing economies affected by the epidemic; called for keeping the market open, striving to achieve a free, fair, non-discriminatory, transparent, predictable and stable trade and investment environment to ensure the smooth flow of trade and investment during the epidemic period, and required efforts to protect drugs and medical care. We will unswervingly strive to reduce the impact of the epidemic on health and economic development, and strive to promote rapid economic recovery and maintain stable growth in the Asia Pacific region.

The release of the statement shows the solidarity of APEC economies, and gives a positive voice that the Asia Pacific region should work together to deal with the epidemic situation, maintain the stability of the trade and investment environment, and jointly promote economic recovery.
