Jie Liu received his Ph.D. degree in computer science from Nankai University, Tianjin, China. He is a professor in the College of Artificial Intelligence, Nankai University. His research interests include machine learning, pattern recognition, information retrieval, and data mining. He has published several papers in refereed proceedings and journals, such as KDD, AAAI, ACL, IJCAI, CIKM, ICDM, TKDE, TIST, KAIS, Pattern Recognition, Information Sciences, Springer WWW, etc.

Developing machine learning algorithms, including deep learning models, topic models and structured prediction models, for analyzing large-scale data with applications to social media analysis, text mining, and vision-based recognition.
