The Nankai University team claimed both the championship and runner-up titles in the AI WILL Space Robot Challenge at the recently concluded World Robot Contest Championships 2024 — Beijing, along with winning the Best Creativity Award.
Four teams from Nankai University, all led by Li Wenyu from Professor Duan Feng’s team at the College of Artificial Intelligence, competed in the event. By embracing the philosophy of “enhancing the global reach of scientific research and translating research findings into practical applications”, Professor Duan’s team has, since 2013, been committed to advancing with determination and innovation. Thanks to the team’s unwavering support and mentorship, NKU’s undergraduate and graduate students have actively engaged in prestigious competitions such as RoboCup and WRCC, repeatedly securing championships and prestigious awards.
WRCC, organized by the Chinese Institute of Electronics, is a key part of the World Robot Conference (WRC). Since its inception in 2015, WRCC has successfully held 10 editions, attracting over 300,000 participants from more than 20 countries worldwide. The event has been hailed as the “Olympics” of the robotics world.
