The School of Journalism and Communication held the Greeting and Celebrating New Year's Day Gala and the First Integrated Media Works Communication Competition Award Ceremony on December 28. Xiushan Hall was decorated with lanterns and festoons, and reechoed with laughter and cheers. Ma Changhong, Secretary of CPC Committee, and Li Hui, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee and Vice Dean, as well as teachers of the School attended the party to welcome the arrival of the New Year with students.
The School’s First Integrated Media Competition Award Ceremony was held during the gala, and Ma Changhong and Li Hui presented awards to the winning teams.
In the gathering, the students showcased their talents and brought exciting performances of various forms. The performances, including nice songs - Zhao Ruihan's You are My Everything, Bai Heying's Monodrama, Dong Yuhan and Fan Xianghan's Xiang Ba Wo Chang Gei Ni Ting; Peking Opera - Lv Liangchen's Sanjiadian (Pericope); the witty crosstalk presented by Xue Dexing and Tian Haitian, I haven’t decided yet; a mix of Chinese opera and rap by Chai Jiaqi; and Zhou Yaxuan's vibrant dances, caused a tremendous sensation among the audience. The Hall was full of applauses, cheers and screams.
In the midst of the exciting performances, there were also captivating games and lucky draws. The games, “passing the parcel” and “describing and guessing” were not only about “rivalry” of speed and thinking, but also brought tremendous joy. Items like electric hand warmers, thermos cups, and snack packages were distributed to students in the luck draws as new year gifts.

Under the guidance of Xu Shiyi, teachers and students also learned to do paper cuttings and window paper-cuts. Many creative works were produced. Through flipping, folding and cutting, everyone conveyed their best wishes for the upcoming New Year through their paper cuts, creating a joyful and auspicious atmosphere.

The gala reached the climax in the final surprise part. When the last program came to a close, lights suddenly turned off, and a huge cake with candles on appeared in front of everyone amid a tender melody. The candlelight and the cheers from the entire audience echoed with each other. Embrace a brighter future, Everything goes as you wish, peace and joy, prosperous future... The cake was decorated with expectations and hopes for the future. Come over here! 3, 2 ,1, Happy New Year! Teachers and students gathered around the cake, blew out the candles together, and made good wishes for the new year together.
