On Oct. 12nd, 2021, the Ministry of Education issued the Decision of the National Textbook Commission on the Award of the First National Textbook Construction on the official website. The Criminal Procedure Law (Sixth Edition) co-edited by Associate Professor Gao Tong of Nankai University Law School won the second prize of the National Excellent Textbooks Award (intended for vocational education and continuing education).
This textbook is compiled by Professor Wang Xinqing, Professor Zhen Zhen and Associate Professor Gao Tong. It belongs to the series of legal textbooks for higher vocational and technical colleges. It is positioned at the "application" level and highlights the characteristics of higher vocational and technical education in cultivating application ability. Since the first edition was published in 2000, it has been published to the sixth edition. The textbook has been selected into "National Planning Textbook for Vocational Education during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan", "National Planning Textbook for General Higher Education during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan", "Planning Textbook for Higher Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education", "National Excellent Textbook for General Colleges and Universities", etc.
The structure of the textbook is designed according to the Criminal Procedure Law. It has 22 chapters, with a total of about 410, 000 words. The teaching material highlights the practice and application orientation, which conforms to the goal of higher vocational education. This textbook focuses on the understanding and application of legal provisions, and adds "reference cases" under difficult legal provisions to help readers understand relevant knowledge points. The selection of key points is close to the national legal professional qualification examination, and some questions of the legal professional qualification examination are used as exercises, which enhances readers' understanding of the examination methods and contents. In addition, this textbook pays more attention to the readability and testability of readers in the text structure, and sets up "examples", "learning objectives", "examples evaluation", "summary of this chapter", "exercises" and other parts.
The National Teaching Material Construction Award is the highest award in the field of teaching materials. It is an important system to review and display the achievements of teaching material construction, enhance the sense of honor and responsibility of teaching material construction workers, and promote the construction of a world-class teaching material system with Chinese characteristics. A total of 999 kinds of national excellent textbooks (200 for basic education, 400 for vocational education and continuing education, and 399 for higher education), 99 advanced collectives for national textbook construction, and 200 advanced individuals for national textbook construction were selected in the first national textbook construction award.
