The Nankai University Workshop on the Philosophy of Economics and the Social Sciences will be held at Nankai University College of Philosophy on September 25-26, 2017. The workshop focuses on topics that are central to Western philosophy, but still relatively unexplored by Chinese philosophers, i.e. the study of the ontology and methodology of the social sciences from a philosophical and historical perspective. The workshop brings together some of the most prominent Asian and Western scholars involved in this research field such as Bruce Caldwell (Director of the Center for the History of Political Economy at Duke University), Chor-yung Cheung (City University of Hong Kong), Paul Dumouchel (Ritsumeikan University), Uskali Maki (Director of the Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence in the Philosophy of the Social Sciences), Jean Petitot (École des hautes études en sciences sociales), Barry Smith (State University of New York at Buffalo, Director of the National Center for Ontological Research), and Stephen Turner (University of South Florida).
Attendance to the workshop is open to the public.
