On June 6, Dr. Justin Tan was engaged as Chair Professor at Nankai University and delivered a lecture at A602 in the Business School. The event was hosted by Zhang Yuli, Dean of the Business School and joined by teachers and students in relevant majors.
In the lecture titled “Following the path of Joseph Rock – On Trading Mode Among Minorities at Yunnan, China”, Prof. Tan analyzed the transactions among 3 ethnic minority groups based on his field research at the province, and argued about the causes and influence of such trading pattern by integrating the perspectives of management, economics, sociology, and anthropology.
Mr. Tan also shared his academic experience and encouraged students to be persistent in scientific research, which resonated with the audience.
Dr. Justin Tan is a full Professor (with tenure) and the Newmont Endowed Chair in Business Strategy, Schulich School of Business, York University, Canada. His main research areas are: Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Enterprise Social Responsibility.
