On November 11, 2018, both of the semifinal and the final of SYSBS-IVEY International Case Competition were closed in Sun Yat-sen University. NKBS Representative Team performed well and won the fourth place in the event. This was the top result among mainland China players.
This year, NKBS Representative Team was composed of Gu Xinyu, Mei Yilan, Wang Hongyu and Xiao Shuhe, who were advised by Associate Professor Tian Li of Business Administration Department. After general selections, 10 teams from mainland China, Hong Kong, China, and the Philippines, respectively, were promoted to the semifinal. With in-depth business knowledge, outstanding thinking, and global, far-reaching vision, NKBS players achieved high scores from all the judges during the presentation and defense, thus becoming the only one team qualified for the final. In the final, all the players were required to read an unfamiliar document, analyze it, produce and present a targeted PPT without any connection to the internet or any possible external data, and then make a defense in two and a half hours. Facing the challenging requirements, the NKBS Team remained calm and finally won the fourth prize.
The Competition is jointly sponsored by Sun Yat-sen Business School and Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University. It aims to provide a high-level exchange platform for outstanding students of business schools worldwide, and improve the integrated abilities and quality of participants. NKBS Representative Team attained better outcome than most of the 173 teams from domestic and overseas reputed universities. Their achievement not only proves the strength of NKBS students, but also stimulates more students to master professional knowledge and enhanced skills, and continue to improve personal capability in all disciplines, being a qualified part of the new generation to serve the wider community.
