On October 17, 2019, NKBS held a grand ceremony to celebrate “Centennial Nankai and NKBS”. The event attracted nearly 4,000 alumni of NKBS to return as well as up to 310,000 online visits. Through the warmhearted registration, commemorative conference, senior management forum, thoughts exchanges, alumni salon, special exhibition and more, participants applauded for the 100th anniversary of Nankai University, and appreciated development and inheritance of NKBS.

At the warmhearted registration, NKBS had prepared exquisite souvenirs for the alumni, including event passport, university badge, exclusive shirt, commemorative bracelet, and postcard. In the 100th Anniversary Commemoration Meeting of NKBS, the Dean Bai Changhong gave a speech. He sincerely welcomed the alumni to return, and encouraged everyone to carry forward the patriotism and struggle spirit of Nankai people and to remain committed to building China with greater enthusiasm. After that, a representative of the alumni recited the poem, Centennial Nankai, Great Nankai. Then all the teachers, students and alumni watched the “Centennial Nankai and NKBS” themed film, as well as the livestream about “the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of Nankai University”. To allow alumni to have a convenient chance to exchange and establish closer relationship with each other, NKBS also provided different branch venues at the centers of departments.

It is known that the event attracted nearly 4,000 alumni of NKBS to return as well as up to 310,000 online visits. That exhibited the sincere love of business graduates to their alma mater. Recently, NKBS has carried out a series of colorful celebration activities. In the first topic of “Enjoying Academic Fruits”, the organizer offered the “Centennial Nankai Room” and additional activities. Up to now, a total of nearly 25 high-end academic activities have been held for the teachers, students and alumni, including “China-Europe Administration Innovation Forum” concentrating on administration and innovation under globalization and jointly held with NEOMA Business School, and “Tianjin Forum Innovative City and Entrepreneurs Inclusion Roundtable” embracing the reform and innovation spirit promotion as well as improvement of the mechanism for enterprise, university and research institute cooperation. As to the second topic of “Feeling NKBS”, the History of Department of International Business Administration was reprinted and reissued; the Directory of Alumni was released; and alumni branches were set up on the basis of different subjects. For the third topic of “Exposing to Interesting Cultural Activities”, the School held the first Chen Bingfu Class awarding ceremony, recorded the alumni video themed “New NKBS in Another Centenary”, carried out the League Day “Singing to the Youth’s Chinese Dream” as well as the activity upholding the determination that “We will join to rejuvenate China, and NKBS will go ahead to create more gorgeousness”. With regard to the fourth topic of “Connecting with the Wider Community”, the “Chen Bingfu Administration Education Fund” was established to bolster the construction and advancement of the University, research and development as well as innovation of the teachers, and the students’ learning and living.
Influenced by the May 4th Movement, Nankai University was officially established on October 17, 1919. Mr. Zhang Boling, the first president of Nankai University, put forward the school concept of “governing the country by culture, strengthening the country by science, and enriching the country by business”, which blazed a trail in modern business education in China. Over the past hundred years, the NKBS has always focused on the academic frontier and major social needs, and responded to vital real problems with profound theories. Now it has a national key discipline, a national important research base, a national social science innovation base and a critical research site for humanities and social science of the Ministry of Education. NKBS regards micro-enterprises as the core research object. Based on the functions of business administration, it has developed the disciplines such as business administration, accounting, financial management, marketing, human resources and more. Along with the increasingly in-depth reform and opening up and the intensive changes of state-owned enterprises, it has also created more subject fields, like corporate governance, and administrations of tourism, service, project, logistics and supply chain, as well as information resources. Thanks to social transformation, technological development and national double innovation strategy, the School has formed distinctive educational directions, including startup and innovative administration, and global marketing. In 1998, the first management academic journal, Nankai Business Review, was released by NKBS, which took the lead in launching such a publication among business schools of universities. In 2007, the discipline of Business Administration ranked the third in China Discipline Ranking. In 2013, 2014 and 2016, NKBS earned AMBA Accreditation, Chinese Advanced Management Education Accreditation (CAMEA), and AACSB International Accreditation, respectively. In 2017, the discipline of Business Administration ranked A-level in the fourth round of China Discipline Ranking. Over the past centenary, NKBS has kept on with its original intention by pooling talents and educating students. When rolling into the new period, it will pay equal attention to inheritance and innovation, and do the utmost to cultivate professionals and work on researches. Promoting education to serve the country, and exerting consistent efforts to pursue better future, NKBS will continue writing the glory and dream of Nankai people.
