It originated in 1923，was Established in 1985. The discipline is now supported by Institute of Applied Chemistry and Engineering and Project 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemical Science and Engineering (Tianjin). There are 33 faculty members, including 25 Professors, 7 Associate Professors and 1 Lecturer. Among them are 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 3 leading talents of Ministry of Education, 4 Distinguished Youth Scholars named by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 4 Excellent Youth Scholars named by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 6 National Young Academic Leaders and 4 New Century Excellent Talents awarded by the Ministry of Education. Research interests span from design and chemical synthesis to applications in advanced energy materials, fine chemicals and functional compounds.
