The School of Journalism and Communication held a faculty meeting at Xiushan Hall on October 24, to convey the spirit of the university's new semester deployment meeting, conduct teacher ethics and conduct education, arrange the school's priorities for this semester, and design construction of disciplines.
Ma Changhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, conveyed the spirit of the speeches made by Yang Qingshan, the Secretary of the University Party Committee, and Chen Yulu, the President of NKU, at the new semester deployment meeting, emphasizing the need to further improve political standing, deeply understand the decisive significance of the two establishments, and resolutely achieve the two safeguards. We should implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the keynote speech made by President Xi Jinping during his visit to Nankai University. We should also follow Nankai University's development strategy, accurately emphasize the school’s priorities, and improve our awareness and implementation in talent introduction, discipline development, student training, curriculum construction, and organized scientific research. We should carefully analyze the various indicators of the integrated evaluation of the school, and closely combine our priorities with the evaluation indicators. We must continue to establish regulations and systems, and take the opportunity of the upcoming audit to carry out self-inspection. Ma Changhong also reported recent cases of illegal and disciplinary violations in the school, and emphasized the education on teacher ethics and conduct. She requested that Party members, cadres, and teachers of the college should take cases as a warning effectively to hold discipline in awe and respect without crossing the line.
Vice Dean Chen Peng led teachers to study President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech titled The Course of Ideology and Politics is Critical to Fundamental Missions of Establishing Virtue and Cultivating Talents made at the workshop of ideology and politics teachers of Nankai University. Chen noted that we should exercise the demands of President Xi Jinping in our daily practice, and improve our educational effects. He also deployed the tasks for undergraduate teaching, graduate teaching, scientific research, protection of historical restoration areas, fire safety, and personnel talent.
Dean Liu Yadong introduced the new faculty members of the school and arranged the construction of disciplines. Liu encouraged teachers to apply for scientific research projects as many as possible, increase academic activity, attach importance to textbook writing, and work together to improve the level of discipline construction in the school.
