The open day for communicating with leaders of the School of Journalism and Communication was held in Room 108 of Xiushan Hall on December 7. Officials of the School, teachers from the Comprehensive Office, and undergraduate students from Grades 2021 and 2022 of the school had face-to-face discussions on various issues related to the school development, training plans, further education and employment, and campus life. Ma Changhong, Secretary of the School Party Committee, Song Yan, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Gao Lei, full-time organization staff of the CPC Committee, Cui Wenming, Head of Graduate Academic Affairs, and Xu Zhijiang, Head of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, attended the meeting. Zhang Hewen, Deputy Secretary of the Student Union Committee, presided over the open day activity.
Zheng Junqi, the Youth League Secretary of Grade 2021 Journalism and Communication, introduced the basic situation of the class and Youth League branch construction, shared the experience of organizing characteristic Youth League Day activities, and put forward opinions on student career development. He hopes more graduate experience sharing meetings and career planning sessions could be held at the school, in a bid to expand student internship practice bases, reduce information gaps within the school, and promote communication.
Zhou Yu, the Youth League Secretary of Class 2 in Grade 2021 Journalism and Communication, introduced the progress in promoting the integration of the class and the Youth League and strengthening the ideological and political education of its members, while reflecting on the problems existing in the class. She stated that multiple measures will be taken in the future to further enhance the cohesion of the branch, and suggested that the school expand external cooperation and enhance the quantity and quality of students’ volunteer service activities.
Cai Leyi, monitor of Class 2 in Grade 2021 Journalism and Communication, introduced the students' impressions about the class through word cloud, and put forward opinions on the hardware construction of the school. She suggested that the school offer cozier services for students by improving the supporting services of study rooms and adding more indicating signs.
Tian Haitian, head of the Publicity Department of the School’s Youth League Committee and an undergraduate student of Grade 2021 Journalism and Communication, gave a report on the work of the Publicity Department of the School’s Youth League Committee. At the same time, on behalf of the students, he proposed some opinions regarding the undergraduate curriculum design and classroom teaching content.
Teachers gave a detailed introduction to various aspects of the school to the students, and responded to the opinions and suggestions put forward by the students.
Gao Lei introduced the Party affairs work and the expand of Party members in the school, explained the process of Party member development, and answered questions from students about Party affairs work.
Xu Zhijiang introduced the teaching and research work of undergraduate students in the school, hoping that students will study seriously and actively participate in various activities and competitions, clarify their goals and make progress through repeated tries.
Cui Wenming offered the precautions related to further education and employment of undergraduates, explained the differences between undergraduate and graduate students. He hopes that students could lay a solid foundation, explore more opportunities, and achieve high-quality scientific research results.
Song Yan gave some reminders to students. She said as the end of the term approached, she hopes that students could maintain a good attitude to prepare for the upcoming examinations on the basis of safety, health, integrity and relaxation.
During the free speech and communication part, students freely expressed their doubts and opinions on enrollment, training, mentor selection, credit recognition, career development, and other issues. The school leaders and teachers responded to various questions raised by the students, and students expressed great gratitude for the teacher's answer and were satisfied with solutions offered to some existing problems.
Ma Changhong stated that the purpose of holding this meeting is to create an opportunity for face-to-face and in-depth communication with students. She encourages students to express their opinions bravely and put forward more constructive ideas to make NKU and School of Journalism and Communication better. Students and teachers should enhance communication and understanding, and work together to promote the development of the college. She hopes that students would cherish the days in the university, study hard, read more good books, make more friends, strengthen their physical fitness, and have a precious and unforgettable memory of their youth.
