The School of Journalism and Communication, in hopes of further enhancing the teaching and educating abilities of teachers and improving independent talent cultivation, and setting up the direction for teaching reform, held the Second Teaching Innovation Competition and Teaching Ability Enhancement Workshop on January 9.
Ten teachers from the School, including Liu Zhongbo, Ma Ruijie, Dai Wei, Chen Peng, Zhou Caishu, Gao Ran, Zhou Peiyuan, Yu Mengli, Li Weijia and Zuo Chaoyuan, participated in the competition. After careful preparation, they showcased their years of teaching achievements and innovative practices in a 15-minute presentation. The teachers were dignified in demeanor and were articulated and fluent during the presentations. Their analysis and thinking were dotted with highlights, they showed strategic solutions for teaching challenges, great logic in question resolution and attractive teaching design, reflecting their great attention to improving their educational work.
The School specially invited Gao Peipei, renowned teacher and associate professor of the College of Computer Science, to provide guidance. Gao Peipei has won multiple awards, including the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award and the second prize in the National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers. With rich teaching and competition experience, she commented on the presentations and on-site displays of the contestant teachers one by one, and provided suggestions for further improvement.
Shi Xiaoxi, a teacher with the School of Journalism and Communication and the second prize winner of the Tianjin Competition Zone of the Third National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers, shared her experience with her colleagues. The attending teachers exchanged their views on the innovation and improvement of teaching abilities.
This competition set up a communication platform for the School teachers. It was a public display of the overall teaching level of the School and brought positive effects in promoting communication and demonstration among teachers, encouraging them to actively engage in teaching. The competition also fulfilled its role in enhancing teachers' ability and quality, laying a foundation for the principle of encouraging teachers to strengthen their teaching ability, keep learning, rectify their mistakes and achieve self-improvement through competition, and playing a positive role in improving the teaching quality and promoting the career development of the School teachers.
The first prize winner of School will be qualified for the competition at the level of University.
