Construction plan of Artificial Intelligence College of Nankai University during the 14th Five-Year Plan:

1.Development strategy

Give full play to the traditional advantages of Nankai University in intelligent robots. In the study of the basic methods of artificial intelligence, we will focus on the close combination of artificial intelligence methods and intelligent robots, which rely on and promote each other, to promote the development of artificial intelligence methods and improve the intelligence level of robots, better facilitate the construction and development of artificial intelligence disciplines. Facing the world's scientific and technological frontier, major national strategic needs, and the main efields of the national economy, we'll strive to cultivate new high-tech intelligent talents with international competitiveness. At the same time, the College of Artificial Intelligence will also focus on cross research with colleges of biology, medicine, and finance to show the unique advantages of Nankai University in artificial intelligence. The specific development strategies are as follows.

a. Build a first-class talent training base in the field of new generation artificial intelligence.

(1) Promote curriculum reform and explore the introduction of artificial intelligence ethics education into the classroom. We will embed the ethics education of safety, ethics, privacy, law, economic form, and harmony between man and nature in the field of artificial intelligence into the professional curriculum, and explore the integration of artificial intelligence ethics into the professional curriculum education, to correctly guide students' good thinking in the field of artificial intelligence research. At the same time, a public course Introduction to Artificial Intelligence will be opened for the whole school, embedded with artificial intelligence ethics education.

(2) Strive to explore discipline construction methods and talent training modes that can not only give full play to the scientific advantages of Nankai University and its research experience in intelligent systems such as robots, but also have significant engineering scientific characteristics.

(3) Further strengthen the training system integrating basic education, master's degree, doctoral degree, continuing education, and sociald training, deliver new engineering talents with a strong sense of social responsibility, strong practical ability, outstanding innovation consciousness, and cutting-edge h technology of artificial intelligence for the country, and better serve the major strategic needs of the country.

b. Build a new-generation AI technology innovation base which should be advanced at home and abroad.

Make full use of the research foundation of Nankai University in intelligent robots and intelligent predictive control, and actively carry out the research on the basic theory and key technology of the new generation of artificial intelligence; guided by the national demand, apply a new generation of artificial intelligence technology to solve practical problems in national economic construction, focus on in-depth research in intelligent robots, autonomous unmanned systems, and intelligent manufacturing, and build the Artificial Intelligence College into a first-class artificial intelligence science and technology innovation base in China.

Broaden exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad, promote industry-university research cooperation between schools and enterprises, undertake major projects in intelligent robots, intelligent manufacturing, and unmanned systems, and actively serve both national and local economic construction of Tianjin. By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the college will turn into an AI science and technology innovation base with extensive influences at home and abroad.

c. Build a first-class talent team and a high-level innovation team.

Gather the resources of Tianjin and NKU, actively create conditions and flexibly introduce master-level talents in artificial intelligence, including hiring several academicians and well-known experts in the fields of artificial intelligence and intelligent robot to form the Academic Advisory Committee of the college; strive to introduce a high-level research team as a whole; strengthen the introduction and training of high-level talents, and further speed up the construction of academic team; focus on introducing and cultivating young and middle-aged discipline leaders, strengthen the construction of the existing team, strive to increase the number of college teachers to more than 100 during the 14th Five Year Plan period, and establish an academic team with a reasonable structure, unity and cooperation, outstanding academic abililty, sophisticated equipment, and strong innovation strength.

Based on the Tianjin key field innovation team of intelligent robot and intelligent system innovation team, establish a high-level innovation team with academicians as academic consultants and scholars of Ten Thousand Talent Program, winners of national outstanding youth fund and well-known young and middle-aged scholars at home and abroad as the backbone, and strive to build into an innovation research group of NSFC or an innovation team in key fields of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

d. Build a talent recruitment base for the Ministry of Education and Tianjine.

Expand the international vision of existing teachers, make NKU's voice heard in international academic organizations such as IEEE and AAAI, and enhance the international influence of the College of Artificial Intelligence of Nankai University. Actively expand academic cooperation at home and abroad, broaden channels and strive to introduce international talents on the new generation of artificial intelligence.

2.Construction objectives

Aiming at the forefront of science and technology in the world, the College of Artificial Intelligence aims to build a new generation of world-class talent training base and research teams in the field of artificial intelligence.
