Nankai University’s Vice President Yan Chunhua was invited to attend the 11th Annual Meeting and the 4th Expert Conference of the International Forum of Public Universities (IFPU) at Charles University in Prague From November 26 to 28.
With a focus on the “Relationship between Teaching and Scientific Research”, the IFPU annual meeting and expert conference of this year invited Vice President of Charles University in Prague Prof. Jan Skrha, Vice President of University of Montreal Prof. Guy Lefebvre, representative for University of Barcelona Prof. Bibiana Crespo Martin and many other leaders and representatives of IFPU member universities.
On behalf of Nankai University, Yan Chuhua made an annual working report of the Secretariat during the annual meeting, including the daily work of the Secretariat and 2017 summer exchange for doctoral students and put forward the initiative for future development IFPU, which was highly recognized by the other member universities. After the discussion, all members agreed that, the future development of IFPU would be based on the close cooperation among the member universities. Regarding the future direction of the IFPU-related activities, all members agreed to enhance survey and selection of research themes so as to reflect their foresight and sustainability. According to the joint decision by vote, 2018 IFPU annual meeting and the expert conference, and the summer exchanges for doctoral students will be hosted by University of Lodz and Nankai University respectively.
During the meeting, Yan Chunhua had discussions with member universities about further cooperation and exchanges according to the goal of Nankai University’s “double first-class” construction and the demand of disciplinary development. Nankai University has reached preliminary agreements with Charles University in Prague and University of Barcelona in the fields of faculty exchanges, student exchanges, and joint programs for undergraduates and master students.
Founded in October 2007, IFPU has committed to creating a cooperative network by absorbing world-class public universities. In 2008, Nankai University joined the alliance. In 2013, Nankai University began to serve as the Secretariat of the IFPU and has remained the position till today. In 2016, the 10th annual meeting and the 3rd expert conference of IFPU was held in Nankai University.
